The Tara Hall Pipe Band was one of the “parent” organizations that along with the Columbia & District Pipe Band (Hudson, NY) formed CRC.  A brief history from the web site circa 1997:

The Tara Hall Pipe Band was formed in Troy, New York in 1975.  The band is very active in the community performing in parades, competitions, concerts and a variety of other venues.  Band Pipers also conduct educational discussions and performances for senior citizen groups, schools and others interested in learning about the great highland bagpipe and its history.

Besides events in the greater Capital District of New York, Tara Hall plays throughout the northeast including the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New york City.  The band has also performed internationally, playing in the 1988 millennium parade in Dublin, Ireland.

The band participates in competitions at Celtic games and Highland festivals primarily in New England and New York State.  In 1996, they won third place in the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA) Champion Supreme Grade V rankings.  In 1997, they won 1st place in the overall rankings and earned promotion to Grade IV.

The band uniform is a day wear style including black jacket, white shirt, black tie, balmoral, off white hose and ghille brouge shoes.  The kilt pattern is the Murphy or Tara tartan (background).
