A Hot Day at Hunter
Posted by: | CommentsThe grade 3 band participated in the Hunter Mountain Celtic festival & pipe band competition yesterday at Hunter Mountain Ski Resort. The festival has been on the band schedule for many years and it is always a fun event. The mass march down the moutain is always interesting and fortunately nobody dropped while navigating down the mountain.
It was nice to catch up with our friends from the Columbia & District Pipe Band who were there playing in the grade 4 event.
Overall the band placed 5th out of 7 bands. Piping judges heard things a bit differently as we got a 2nd and 7th, 2nd in ensemble and 3rd in drumming.

Hunter Mountain on Sunday!

Massed bands at Hunter a few years ago.
This Sunday the Grade 3 band will be competing at the Hunter Mountain Games. This is a big one for the Grade 3 as bands from the Southern part of the state will be there. There are no individual competitions but tons of entertainment along with the band competitions. And there is of course the big finale of all the bands marching down the mountain.

Some success at Hunter.

Robert Louis Stevenson Festival

On stage at the festival.
It was a nice concert on a Sunday afternoon in a beautiful location. We played twice and Pipe Major Gordie Peters gave a history of the tunes. There was a light rain for a short time but not enough to dampen the mood. The Robert Louis Stevenson Festival was located just North of Saranac Lake, NY.

Relaxing at the restaurant after the concert.
