The Miss Albany Diner

Posted by: Patrick Sweet | Comments (3)

For those that read or watch the local news you have probably heard that the Miss Albany Diner is up for sale. Those in the band that have been around long enough you probably remember stopping here after band practices on Saturday mornings (back in the Tara Hall days) for eggs and coffee and some of our patented useless banter. I know the Donnelly’s and I were regulars and I’m pretty sure some others joined at times as well.

Speaking of breakfast, we used to have a tradition of pancakes and coffee at Pinky’s before competitions as well — we should get that going again. You didn’t need a meal for the rest of the day after eating those pancakes… but anyway…

Perhaps someone in the band will buy it? We could practice in the parking lot and go to Wolff’s after in the summer? Gordie aren’t you retiring soon? Wishful thinking I know. I really hope they find a new owner who keeps the place exactly the same as it is today.

Bagpipe Class

Posted by: mhatcher | Comments (0)

Last chance this year to start learning to play the pipes with Capital Region Celtic.

Every journey starts somewhere and learning to play the pipes starts here with a 10 week course. You will learn on the practice chanter to correctly play the scale, embellishments and a tune or two.

The weekly 6:30 to 7:30 pm class starts on Tuesday November 10th and runs for 10 weeks with Christmas and New Years off.

No experience is necessary. You don’t have to know how to read music. You don’t have to have huge lungs.
