About Us
Formed in 2001 the Capital Region Celtic Pipe Band (CRC) is based in Albany, NY. The band now has an active pipe corps of 15 to 18 and 8 to 10 drummers. The band is very active in the Capital District community performing in parades, competitions, concerts, and a variety of other venues.
Besides events in the greater Capital District of New York, CRC has played throughout the northeast including the St. Patrick's Day Parades in Boston and New York City and the renowned July 4th parade in Pittsfield MA.
The band participates in competitions at Celtic games and Highland festivals primarily in New England and New York State. There is long history of success on the competition field.
The band uniform is a daywear style including black jacket, vest, blue shirt, Glengarrie, highland blue hose and ghille brogue shoes. The band wears the Connaught tartan, which is of Irish origin.
CRC meets every Wednesday evening at the American Legion North Albany Post. New members of all experience levels are always welcome and instruction is available for those interested in learning either the pipes or snare drum.
